Mountain West Digital Library - The Mountain West Digital Library is an aggregation of digital collections from universities, colleges, public libraries, museums, and historical societies in Utah, Nevada, and Idaho. Hosting institutions each run servers supporting their own digital collections and support partner institutions by providing scanning and hosting services. The Mountain West defines the region of contributors, but the content extends beyond the Mountain West and into different fields.

Photographs of the Medical Survey of the Bituminous Coal Industry
Photographs of the Medical Survey -The bulk of the photographs were taken by Russell W. Lee, a professional photographer hired by the Department of Interior for this project; others were taken by the Navy. These photographs cover a complete range of activities in mining communities. They show the interior and exterior of both company-owned and privdispensaries; miners at work performing various tasks; mining grounds, equipment and wash houses; women performing household functions; children at play; recreation facilities, churches, schools, clubs; scenes of mining towns people in and around company stores and town streets; family portraits; members of the medical survey group inspecting grounds and speaking to mine company administrators, local mine operators and union officials. Inclusive Start Date: 1937 Inclusive End Date: 1947

Utah State Historical Society Photographic Collection
The Utah State Historical Society is the recent recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to digitize 6,000 images from the Shipler Commercial Photographer Collection. This collection of approximately 100,000 negatives documents the people and places of the Intermountain West from 1903 to 1980.
Acquired by the Utah State Historical Society in 1988, most of the collection is in the form of glass negatives. The Historical Society is be responsible for the digitization of the images that document important events from the late 1800s to the early 1900s, currently represented in the glass-plate negatives.
